Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has announced his vote for the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
On X/Twitter, LeBron James endorsed Vice President and 2024 Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for president. This shouldn’t surprise anybody, as the four-time NBA champion has been a vocal critic of Republican nominee Donald Trump:
Trump easily secured the Republican nomination for the third straight election. Harris was quickly named the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden announced that he wouldn’t seek re-election for a second term.
The 2024 U.S. presidential election takes place next Tuesday. Along with LeBron James, other prominent celebrities to publicly endorse Harris include Taylor Swift, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Beyoncé, Mark Ruffalo, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Leonardo DiCaprio Jennifer Aniston, Drew Carey and Sarah Jessica Parker.
As previously noted, James has publicly criticized Trump on numerous occasions. When Biden was announced as the winner of the 2020 election, James took a shot at Trump by posting this image:
Additionally, LeBron James memorably called Trump a “bum” after the latter rescinded the Golden State Warriors’ invitation to the White House after winning the NBA Championship in 2017.
James also questioned Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan in 2017 during the latter’s first year in office.
If Trump wins, he’ll become the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms, joining Grover Cleveland. If Harris is victorious, she’ll become the first woman elected as the president of the United States.
LeBron James Is Off To A Strong Start For Lakers In 2024-25
With his 40th birthday approaching, James has shown zero signs of slowing down in his first NBA season with son, Bronny. “The King” has averaged 21.2 points, 6.6 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game over his first five games of 2024-25.
James’ production should only improve, too, as he’s shooting below his career field goal percentage (48.7 against his career 50.6 percentage). Los Angeles will try and improve to 4-2 on the season when they visit the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
