Philadelphia may have come away with a win on Sunday, but New Orleans came away looking even worse for things that happened after the play was over.

When a team loses a close contest on football Sundays, the end of the contest can turn chippy with emotions running high on every play.

There are other times, though, where a chippy play can turn dirty quickly.

When it comes to the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 3 contest, one play turned from a dirty and physical outcome to downright classless.

And it wasn’t the Eagles who got criticized for it.

When Philadelphia wide receiver DeVonta Smith suffered a concussion late in the contest, a Saints defensive player was seen spitting on him with his helmet off. The player, 2021 first-round edge rusher Payton Turner, was caught during the broadcast after the play spitting on Smith.

You be the judge – did this actually happen or are Eagles fans imagining things?

For the most part, this is a pretty obvious sight overall.

Turner clearly gets up and spits on a player who was clearly in pain overall. The fact that the Eagles were able to come back and beat the Saints 15-12 seems more like justice for a dirty and classless play overall.

And for a Saints that injured Darius Slay, Smith, and other players during the game, it seems that a mark of a dirty team is growing in the Bayou.
