The Chiefs go on the road in Week 7 in a Super Bowl rematch against the 49ers.
Opening odds have been released by sportsbooks and they wildly disrespect the two-time defending champions.

Despite San Francisco’s 3-3 record and slew of injuries, the 49ers are somehow favored over the team that’s beaten them four straight times, including a pair for Lombardi Trophies. Patrick Mahomes is almost never an underdog but when he is, he makes sportsbooks pay.
Considering how these two teams have looked in the early part of the season, it’s hard to imagine Kansas City losing this one. At the very least, these odds are downright disrespectful.
Chiefs vs. 49ers Opening Odds
Making a good home team the favorite is understandable until you consider the situational spot for the Chiefs. Andy Reid is 21-4 in his career off a bye and Patrick Mahomes is 11-1-1 against the spread (ATS) as an underdog. Put those two trends together and you’ve got an excellent case to back Kansas City.
It’s not as if this San Francisco team is at full strength either. They’re 3-3 ATS with outright losses to the Cardinals, Rams, and Vikings. The Chiefs would be favored over all three. This is a talented roster, sure, but without Christian McCaffrey, it’s a beatable team.
Kansas City has plenty of injuries on its side and has to adjust to life without Rashee Rice. That being said, both JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kareem Hunt looked more than capable of shouldering the load against the Saints in Week 6, while Travis Kelce is still one of the league’s most dangerous pass-catchers.
This should be the only time the Chiefs are underdogs for the rest of the season barring disaster. Bettors should take advantage of the opportunity.
