Jannik Sinner, the tennis star, has addressed rumors that he and his partner Anna Kalinskaya secretly got married following his US Open victory last month.

Sinner has had an impressive year on the court, securing two of the four Grand Slams in 2024 to date. After clinching the Australian Open at the start of the year, Sinner triumphed in the US Open, defeating local favorite Taylor Fritz in a straight final.

In addition to his major title wins, Sinner ascended to the world No. 1 ranking – a position he is likely to maintain into the new year. However, his off-court activities have also made headlines, particularly when he managed to avoid a doping ban despite testing positive for a prohibited substance.

The World Anti-Doping Agency has appealed this case, which means Sinner could still be forced to take a break from the game.

Sinner’s personal life has also been in the spotlight throughout the year after it was revealed that the Italian was dating fellow tennis player Kalinskaya.

The couple has been seen spending time together, training, and vacationing, sparking rumors that they had secretly wed. However, much to some fans’ disappointment, the ATP star confirmed that this was not the case.

The jovial two-time Grand Slam champion responded to the rumors by saying: “It was new also for me, to be honest! “.

“No, I didn’t ask [for Kalinskaya to marry him], and nothing, nothing happened. I just read the details a little bit that it happened after US Open, but it’s all false, false news. Thank you.”

Kalinskaya also addressed the rumors, stating: “To clarify things about fake rumours, this is not true.” The couple will be focusing on their game for the rest of the year, especially Sinner who has a world No. 1 spot to defend.

Sinner has already advanced to the fourth round of the ongoing Shanghai Masters, where he’ll face either Roberto Carballes Baena or Ben Shelton.

A potential final against Carlos Alcaraz is still possible, with their last encounter at the China Open ending in Sinner’s defeat to the Spanish prodigy.

All of this precedes the potentially season-defining ATP Finals scheduled to take place in Turin next month.
