We have an interesting development with the Montreal Canadiens. During this solid stretch of games the team is currently enjoying, head coach Martin St-Louis has shown that he’s not afraid to do things differently.
He notably treated last Monday’s game as if it were a road game, and now he’s doing it again today (ahead of Tuesday’s game), but this time for an actual road game.
As reported by the excellent Maxime Truman, the Canadiens have decided not to hold practice today, and the reason is particularly interesting.
The team won’t practice this Sunday because they’ll already be on the road!
It’s rare to see something like this, but Martin St-Louis wants his players to arrive well in advance in Utah to acclimate to the time difference.
Even though the next game isn’t until Tuesday, the Canadiens will already be in Utah starting tonight!
I like the idea.
A Travel Day Much Earlier Than Usual for Martin St-Louis and the Canadiens: They’re Leaving Montreal Early
This shows how dedicated the team is right now.
It means more days spent away from home, but it’s likely to pay off on the ice.
«No practice today for the Canadiens, who are heading to Utah.
The team wants to arrive two days before Tuesday’s game, instead of just the day before, to better adjust to the time difference.»
– Maxime Truman
Let’s remember that Martin St-Louis’ squad fell 2-1 in a shootout last night against the powerful Dallas Stars.
The Canadiens are two points away from a playoff spot and the Columbus Blue Jackets, but they have a game in hand (as well as three games in hand over the Boston Bruins).
