It’s been a long time since Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin sparred over politics — but alas, this morning’s episode of The View proved the neighboring co-hosts still have some fire left in them.
During the first Hot Topics segment of the day, Sara Haines criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not working hard enough to distance herself from President Joe Biden‘s policies. As the world saw on The View last week, Harris admitted that “not one thing comes to mind” when she was asked whether there was anything she would’ve done differently than Biden over the past four years, proving to be a “missed opportunity” to sell herself as a different candidate, according to Haines.
Griffin, who has never shied away from criticizing the Biden administration, agreed with her co-host that Harris should’ve done more to distance herself from her boss’ policies.
“Why I think this idea of change really matters is because — whether you guys love Joe Biden or not, the public was turning on his policies,” she said. “That was why there was the whole move to replace him [as the Democratic nominee].”
But Whoopi Goldberg quickly chimed in, “No, the public wasn’t turning on his policies. They were turning on the fake news on him being too old to do the job.”
Still, Griffin stood her ground, telling her co-hosts, “The reality is the majority of voters didn’t want Joe Biden back, so she needs to signal how she’s different.”

That’s when Hostin jumped in, asking why Harris needs to be different than Biden.
“Sunny, you think that because you’re a registered Democrat who loves Joe Biden,” Griffin fired back, prompting Hostin to passionately remind Griffin that Biden’s successful track record is based on proven research.
“This is statistics. These are facts. The Biden administration has been one of the most successful administrations in decades. That’s a fact!” Hostin exclaimed. But before Goldberg could cut to the commercial break, Griffin added that “successful is a relative term,” and while Biden “passed a lot of legislation,” not everyone was happy with what he passed.
