The Los Angeles Clippers pulled off a stunning 102-99 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, marking their second win of the season against the Warriors. This victory was the first time this season that the Warriors scored under 100 points. The Warriors have now lost three games this season, and two of those losses came at the hands of Ty Lue’s team.
Clippers’ thrilling win, the Clippers head coach is concerned about the mental well-being of assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy. According to Lue, Van Gundy takes the team’s defensive struggles very personally, to the point where it affects him beyond the game.
“He takes it personal. He might not go home at night. I gotta check on him. You love people that put the work in and put the time in. He really cares. I’m glad he’s here,” Lue said.
The game itself was filled with drama, particularly as the Warriors were down by 10 points with just two minutes left. They cut the deficit to just three points with 35 seconds remaining, but the Clippers held on.
James Harden, who has scored the second-most three-pointers in the NBA, had 12 points, 16 assists, and six rebounds, while Norman Powell was the top scorer with 23 points, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. Stephen Curry had a game-high 26 points, but he couldn’t save the Warriors. The game ended with missed potential game-tying three-pointers from Curry and teammate Gary Payton II.
Ty Lue Pushes Clippers To Aim For No. 2 In The West
The Los Angeles Clippers’ 102-99 win over the Golden State Warriors improved their record to 8-7, placing them in eighth place in the Western Conference. However, despite the victory, Ty Lue is not content with the team’s current performance. After securing two wins over Stephen Curry’s Warriors this season, Lue wants the Clippers to climb back into the second spot in the conference.
“We just gotta win games until we get No. 2 back,” Lue said after the game.
The Warriors are 10-1 against all teams except the Clippers. In tonight’s game, the Warriors missed 10 free throws and committed 19 turnovers. Over their two losses to Lue’s team, the Warriors have made a total of 40 turnovers.
