Reactions poured in from around the basketball world for San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul following his historic NBA career achievement on Sunday night.
The “Point God” recorded his 12,092th career assist to Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, moving him past Jason Kidd for the second-most assists in NBA history.
Wembanyama paid tribute to his veteran mentor on the big screen at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Fellow NBA stars like Russell Westbrook also congratulated him on the achievement.
His influence reached the WNBA, too. Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark reacted to CP3’s big milestone on Instagram, from point guard to point guard.

Paul’s first assist on his way to the milestone came on Nov. 1, 2005. He has been dropping dimes in the NBA since Clark (born Jan. 22, 2002) was just three years old.
Clark knows a thing or two about assists as well. In her rookie season, she broke the WNBA single-season assist record with 321. She previously finished as the NCAA leader in assists for three straight seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Paul and Clark were a perfect match to promote “assists” together in State Farm commercials, and that’s where Clark gave the NBA legend his due.
She commented five fire emojis and shared the video on her Instagram story to her 3 million followers.
It would be nearly impossible for Paul to break John Stockton’s all-time assist record of 15,806. He should enjoy his moment in second-place, because Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is not far behind, with 11,219 career assists to Paul’s 12,099 as of Monday morning.
