Riley Green Puts Ella Langley Rumors To Rest—“Ella’s Probably Too Smart to Date Me”

Windsor's Country 95.9 & 92.7

Since releasing their No. 1 hit “You Look Like You Love Me,” Riley Green and Ella Langley have been on a media tear. Between their music video, Smokey & The Bandit short film, and their plethora of other media appearances, the public, of course, has been perpetuating the rumor mill fervently. Particularly, they have been pushing the rumor that Langley and Green are country music’s next power couple.

Well, stop dreaming and typing, because Riley Green is having no more of this hearsay. Recently, Green opened up about the rumors on Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files: Going Deeper. Additionally and rumors aside, Green also divulged how the duet came to fruition. Though, above all, Green put all the rumors to rest.

Riley Green Shuts The Door on Rumored Ella Langley Relationship

Regarding the alleged relationship, Green stated, “Yeah, I mean, Ella’s probably too smart to date me anyway” and “I think that’s kind of the country music fan, like, they love the Tim McGraw and Faith, and the George and Tammy.

As a matter of fact, Green actually warned Langley about the potential rumors when they first released the song. Green said he told Langley, “There’s gonna be a lot of things said, but I mean, you don’t really have to play into it or not play into it” and “It’s gonna be something people enjoy the same way we do when we go listen to those songs.”

“You Look Like You Love Me” Origin Story

Even though the rumors are the soundbite and main story surrounding their No. 1 single, the duet’s origin story is a pretty good piece of fandom as well. “I first heard [You Look Like You Love Me] from a promoter that kind of helps manage her, a buddy of mine. I was touring in Alabama, and he would put her on some shows of mine,” Green said.

Green divulged the song was never intended to be a duet. However, when he heard Langley’s voice and the premise of the song being a duet he was sold. “I liked her voice, she’s obviously from Alabama, very country which I liked” and “ I was like, ‘It’s cool, like there’s something cool about the girl picking up the guy or whatever,’” stated Green.

Well, there you have it folks, the first-person source has spoken. Riley Green and Ella Langley are not dating. So, let’s all settle down and let these musicians do what they do best.
