The son of a former NFL player, Bubby Brister, has found out his punishment after a hit-and-run crash that left a man dead in Oct. 2022.
Walter Andrew Brister IV of Mandeville pleaded guilty to hit-and-run driving that caused a serious bodily injury or death last month.
A grand jury chose not to act on charging Brister with negligent homicide at the time.
The 21-year-old struck and killed Jude Jarreau with his vehicle, and the 44-year-old father of two was pronounced dead at the scene.
The son of Bubby Brister got off extremely lucky. Judge William Jorden sentenced Walter Andrew Brister IV to three years of probation, including 250 hours of community service, per WAFB.
Brister was a quarterback at Louisiana Tech at the time of the tragic accident but left the team the same year.
He completed his only pass attempt with the program as a freshman in 2021.
Like his father, Brister attended Neville High School and was the Tigers’ starting quarterback.
