The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the most dominant teams in the NFL in the early-season under head coach Andy Reid.

NFL Week 2 Recap: Kansas City Chiefs 26, Cincinnati Bengals 25

The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0 in 2024 after a close victory against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The Chiefs walked away with the victory after kicker Harrison Butker nailed a 51-yard field goal as time expired.

While the team certainly fought hard to stay undefeated through the first two weeks, it’s not the first time they’ve had a hot start to the season under head coach Andy Reid. In fact, through Reid’s 12 seasons as Kansas City’s coach, this is the seventh time they’ve been undefeated through the first two weeks.

Including 2024, the Chiefs have also begun the season 2-0 in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022 under Reid. They’re also a combined 18-6 through the first two weeks of the season under Reid, which is the best record of any team in the league since 2013.

While the stats only reflect the start of the season, the early success has often translated to success later in the year, as the Chiefs have only missed the playoffs once since Reid took over, which was in 2014, when the team did not begin 2-0.

This season’s start is not only impressive because of the record, but also because Kansas City did it against their two most recent AFC Championship opponents in the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The team is certainly satisfied with the strong start, but they also have higher aspirations, as they look to win their third-straight Super Bowl.

The Chiefs will look to stay undefeated against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
