A BBC radio star has revealed that she turned down Strictly Come Dancing, leading her mum to refuse to speak to her for a week.
Edith Bowman, 50, appeared on The One Show and host Alex Jones began by saying: “First of all Edith, we hear that your mum isn’t going to be happy that we’re not going to reveal you as one of this year’s Strictly contestants.”
The radio star couldn’t help but laugh as she replied: “Oh yes sorry mum, sorry, not this year I’m afraid, no.”
Alex went on to ask Edith if her mum, Eleanor, really wants her to take part in the show, to which she replied: “She didn’t speak to me for a week once when I got asked once to do it.

Edith Bowman’s decision to turn down an offer to appear on Strictly Come Dancing caused quite the rift with her mother, who reportedly refused to speak to her for a whole week.
The popular BBC radio star shared this amusing anecdote during a recent appearance on The One Show, where she also revealed that this wasn’t the first time her mum had expressed her disappointment in Edith’s decision not to participate in the show.
Charlotte Crosby, another guest on the show, was quick to champion Edith’s potential as a contestant on Strictly, citing her dance moves as evidence of her suitability for the competition.
