A major update on Sean Higgins’ fate emerged from court, two weeks after the passing of the Gaudreau brothers.
Sean Higgins, 43, was arrested two weeks ago after hitting Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau with his truck following the consumption of “five or six beers.” The Columbus Blue Jackets forward and his brother were cycling home after their sister’s wedding rehearsal dinner and were set to be groomsmen the following day.
Higgins currently faces two charges of vehicular manslaughter and could spend most of the rest of his life in prison for his actions.
In a new development, we learned that Higgins will remain in custody without bond until his next court date, set for October 15th.
Considering that he could be in jail for decades, this isn’t much for now. However, it indicates that he will likely receive near the maximum sentence for his crime. This case will attract a lot of attention, and no mercy will be shown to Higgins.
Indeed, all major sports leagues paid their respects to Gaudreau and his family. Multiple athletes from the NFL, MLB, and WWE made heartfelt gestures to show their support over the past two weeks.
“Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton honored Johnny Gaudreau before his game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday by wearing Gaudreau’s No. 13 Calgary Flames jersey during walk-ins.”
Further developments aren’t expected until Higgins’ court date on October 15th. However, if anything new arises, be sure to tune in to get all the details.
