Jennifer Lopez is on ‘high alert’ as ex-boyfriend Diddy is charged amid fears the nightclub ‘sh**ting’ where she was ARRESTED will be reopened

Jennifer Lopez’s management team are on ‘high alert’ and have held crisis talks to prepare a plan should the star get dragged into the ongoing criminal investigations into her ex Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Insiders said Lopez’s team were weighing up whether she should break her silence on her arrest with Combs on December 27, 1999, over the shooting of Natania Reuben and two others outside the Times Square Club in Manhattan.

Lopez spent 14 hours in a cell after she was arrested with Combs and his bodyguard when cops found a gun inside the car they used to flee the scene of the shooting.

While Lopez was released and quickly cleared of involvement, Combs, his bodyguard Anthony ‘Wolf’ Jones and Jamal ‘Shyne’ Barrow, a 21-year-old rapper,  were all charged.

Combs and Jones were acquitted but Barrow found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment, serving nine years in prison.

However, Natania, who was left with bullet fragments permanently lodged in her face, has always maintained it was Diddy who pulled the trigger, and calls are growing for the case to be re-opened.

One theory has been Barrow took the fall for Diddy.

In a $30 million sex assault lawsuit filed in February, producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones claims Diddy boasted on the night of the 1999 shooting Lopez ‘carried the gun into the club for [Combs] and passed him the gun after he got into an altercation with another individual.’

While Lopez’s has never commented on the shooting, an insider told DailyMail.com her team is now weighing up if she should to get ahead of it as the music mogul’s shady past is put under the spotlight.

The source added that the songstress’ mother was also deeply worried as she had always opposed her daughter’s relationship with Combs.

‘Jennifer Lopez’s team are on high alert as they anticipate some drama as more people revisit the shooting of Natania Reuben,’ a source said.

‘There were crisis talks this week to discuss how, and if, Jennifer should respond if the ongoing case triggers the past.

‘Jennifer was present when the incident happen and a lot of people in the industry are looking at her sideways.’

Another source told DailyMail.com that Lopez’s team were hard at work to make sure she wasn’t ‘blindsided’ should she be dragged into Combs’ mess.

‘Everyone that was ever connected with Diddy is now going to be looked at, and Jen has people looking into it all,’ they said.

‘She doesn’t believe any negative impact will come from whatever happens to Diddy, but will do anything to avoid any future crisis.’

But a third source claimed Lopez was worried, which is why her team are preparing a plan.

‘If they reopen this case, it would drag her back into this situation that she has tried for the past 25 years to forget.

‘She has had the worst year of her life and this entire thing with Diddy is just old wounds.’

Lopez has only ever offered scant details of her tumultuous two-year relationship with Combs.

Meanwhile, in March, Natania Reuben again told NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Combs shot her, not Barrow.

‘I literally watched them pull out the guns,’ she said during an appearance on

‘I had a clear point of view. I mean, for God’s sake — I got shot in my nose.’

Earlier this week, Natania’s mom said she ‘screamed out to God’ after her daughter told her of Combs’ arrest.

‘I said, ‘Are you kidding me, really?’ She said, ‘Yes!’, she told the The Daily Beast.

‘I just screamed out to God, ‘Thank you, merciful father!”

Combs has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, according to a federal indictment unsealed in New York on Tuesday.

He was arrested on Monday in Manhattan, six months after federal authorities conducting a sex trafficking investigation raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.

Shortly after Combs was jailed, a 2015 clip of Lopez being asked on The Wendy Williams show whether a romantic reunion with Diddy was a possibility.

Lopez laughed and shook her head, but when cameras cut to the A-lister’s mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez in the audience, she looked furious and shouted ‘no!’ while doing a ‘cut it’ hand gesture to her daughter.
