Matthew Stafford’s string of bad luck at Ford Field continued on Sunday as the Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams in overtime.

The Rams were hoping to exact some revenge against the team that ended their season in the playoffs just a few months ago.

In his latest return to the stadium where he spent 12 seasons as the face of the Detroit Lions, Matthew Stafford fell in a heartbreaker but had to deal with much more than just starting the season off with a loss.

Heading into the game, Stafford shared his anticipation for the Lions fanbase.

“(The atmosphere) was good,” Stafford told reporters. “I thought it was a fun place to play. The crowd was into it. Obviously, a great football game helps make the crowd get into it — back and forth all day.”

When asked if he has gotten over being booed by the Lions fanbase and the Goff chants, Matthew Stafford simply replied, “I am, yeah. I’m fine.”

He also added a “yup” to the follow-up question about games in Detroit not being anything special to him.

The 26-20 loss marked Stafford’s sixth straight defeat at Ford Field.

His last victory there came on Nov. 15, 2020.

Stafford and the Rams will try to get their first victory next week when they travel to Arizona for an NFC West battle in Week 2.
