In a recent game, basketball fans experienced an incredible competition between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Charlotte Hornets. The match had several intense moments, but the most dramatic occurred in the final moments. Additionally, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers’ reaction to a foul during these closing moments left fans speechless on social media.
In the final moments of the fourth quarter, the Bucks were holding on to their lead when Giannis Antetokounmpo committed a foul against LaMelo Ball. This call allowed Ball to take crucial free throws, which played a significant role in the Hornets’ narrow 115-114 victory.
Rivers expressed clear frustration over the referee’s decision regarding the foul. He argued that the call against Antetokounmpo was incorrect and significantly contributed to the team’s defeat. In the post-game interview, the Bucks’ head coach voiced his dissatisfaction with the officiating.
“I thought the final play was the ref blowing a call,” Rivers said (Via ESPN). “This is back-to-back games now where on the final play there has been an incorrect call made. LaMelo Ball fell. He just fell down. Nobody was near him, slipped on his own. We come up with the ball, and the game’s over.”
Rivers Remarks On Recurring Incorrect Foul Calls Against The Bucks
Bucks star player Giannis Antetokounmpo displayed his remarkable skills during the game against the Hornets. The Greek Freak recorded a triple-double, finishing with 22 points, 12 assists, and 15 rebounds. However, a foul in the game’s final moments changed the entire scenario, leading to their loss. Further in the interview, Rivers mentioned that the Bucks have faced incorrect fouls in consecutive games.
“So back-to-back games now, we’ve had a call made against us that was incorrect. We were lucky in Detroit the kid missed two free throws. Tonight, LaMelo Ball made the free throws and there was clearly not a foul. When you watched the video, the referee who called the foul was blocked out by one of our players. You can’t guess at the end of a game, guys. Both teams have played too hard. You can’t guess.” Rivers said.
After the game, Rod Boone from the Charlotte Observer interviewed Crew Chief Curtis Blair for the Pool Report. It was reported that the foul call was incorrect.
