Tomas Berdych is excited over the Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray pairing as the 2010 Wimbledon finalist has no doubt that it will work out fine because both of them are known as great professionals.
Nearly a month has passed since the news broke out of the ex-big rivals joining forces for this year’s Australian Open. And the excitement and the hype haven’t wavered as many can’t wait to see how it will all look Melbourne.
Berdych, who was one of the top players in the game for around a decade, never managed to win a Grand Slam and the Big Three were the big reason why.In an interview with Tennis Majors, the Czech was asked what he would have done had Djokovic asked him to be his coach – he laughed before saying: “But these two guys being on the same side will be really interesting to watch. Honestly, I’m very lucky to have played against them and now to be able to see them on the same side of the court and Andy in the box. Who knows how that might work? But I’m sure that they have all the pedigrees to make it happen.”
“I know them and the amount of professionalism that they have, so I’m really not worried that this won’t work. But really, it will be very interesting to see the chemistry between them,” the Czech added.
After retiring from the game in 2019, the former 13-time ATP champion took some time away from pro tennis. Then, he accepted to work with rising Czech star Jiri Lehecka and the collaborated for 18 months.
Since finishing his stint with Lehecka in September, Berdych has accepted to become the captain of his country’s Davis Cup team.
Considering that the 2010 Wimbledon finalist is also in coaching, it wouldn’t be surprising him and Murray meet again on the Tour but this time as coaches.
