We have several lineup changes to announce for the Montreal Canadiens today.

First, let’s note that Martin St-Louis will be adjusting several lines in preparation for tonight’s game against the Calgary Flames.

Caufield – Suzuki – Dach

Newhook – Evans – Slafkovsky

Anderson – Dvorak – Gallagher

Heineman – Kapanen – Armia

Extra: Pezzetta

Jake Evans is now the Canadiens’ new second-line center, which is well deserved but still says a lot.

Second, Xhekaj is back in the lineup, once again taking the spot from Justin Barron, which is great news for him.

And third, it’s now safe to say that Cayden Primeau’s window of opportunity to dethrone Samuel Montembeault has closed.

Cayden Primeau missed his chance to overtake Samuel Montembeault as the number one

This was confirmed by Martin St-Louis, and Montembeault will once again start in goal for the Canadiens tonight.

Had Cayden Primeau managed to play a solid game against the Washington Capitals and string together a few strong starts, he could have really surpassed Montembeault, but that clearly wasn’t the case.

So, it’s status quo for now.

Primeau, 25, has a record of 1-2-1 this season, with a goals-against average of 4.38 and a save percentage of .861.

One might even wonder if he’s on the verge of losing his spot in Montreal entirely.

And you, do you believe that Connor Hughes or Jakub Dobes would be better than Primeau?
