Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark‘s popularity has reached new heights as fans witnessed another great milestone set in the WNBA. Even before entering the league, Clark was a popular college star. On Thursday, Clark and her Indiana Fever team played against the Washington Mystics after the latter relocated their arena to Capital One Arena in Washington DC. A record-breaking 20,000 fans attended the game between Fever and Mystics, further highlighting Clark’s growing popularity.
The game set a new single-game attendance record. Many believe that one of the major factors for the historic milestone was Fever’s popular rookie Caitlin Clark, whose excellence on the court has drawn fans into the arenas throughout the country.
Throughout the season, the Fever games have consistently been packed with fans to witness Clark’s dominance on the court. However, it was in the final game of the regular season that the fans truly made history by breaking the attendance record. A total of 20,711 fans filled the stadium, cheering on their team and creating an electric atmosphere.
The popularity of the WNBA has reached new heights with the arrival of rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. However, it is predominantly Clark who has been driving the increase in viewership and game attendance. The Indiana home arena has been attracting an average of 17,036 fans per game to watch their dominant rookie, Clark.
It was a fitting end to a successful season for the Fever, as they celebrated their dedicated fan base and the excitement surrounding the team’s future. Despite playing for less than 20 minutes in the game, Clark still gave the fans plenty to cheer for. Clark has had a dominant rookie season and is certainly in the locks to win the Rookie of the Year.
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever fell short against the Washington Mystics
Clark had a slow start to the game in terms of scoring but was great at dishing out assists in the first possession. Further Clark even grabbed a few rebounds on the defensive side of the court. Clark was relatively quiet on offense and scored just eight points throughout the game with just hitting two 3s in the game.
But Clark showcased her great all-around skills as she grabbed five rebounds and dished out eight assists. In a surprising move, Clark was substituted out for the entire fourth quarter. It was the first time Clark failed to score in double figure after the All-Star break.
Eventually, the Fever faced defeat against the Mystics with the final score 92-91. The game displayed Clark’s versatility on the court not only as a scorer but also as a playmaker and rebounder. The Fever will be heading to their first playoffs since 2016 and with Clark on the team, the team is certainly one of the contenders for the championship.
