A slow-motion clip has surfaced online that shows exactly how Chris Godwin was injured during the Ravens-Bucs showdown on ‘Monday Night Football.,

The wide receiver sustained a serious injury after making a catch over the middle, having gotten tackled by two Baltimore players, and required a cart to take him off the field.

The timing of the injury made it all the more unfortunate for Tampa Bay, given that they were nursing a sizable deficit and had already lost Mike Evans to a hamstring injury earlier in the game.

ESPN opted not to show a replay of the injury given its gruesome nature, but there are several videos online, including the slowed-down one shown below. You can see a Ravens defender fall on Godwin’s leg during the tackle, with his ankle twisting unnaturally.

The stadium was nearly silent after Godwin went down, which suggested that the injury was a serious one. That ESPN refused to show it was telling enough.

Chris Godwin Was Having A Career Year Before His Injury

The Ravens were leading 41-31 at the time with less than a minute on the clock, something which has earned Bucs head coach Todd Bowles no end of criticism over his decision to keep the WR in a game he barely had a chance of winning at that particular stage.

Godwin was having a fruitful campaign prior to his injury, leading the NFL in catches with 50 and behind only Ja’Marr Chase in receiving yards with 576.

He is set to undergo surgery on the dislocated ankle this week in hopes of making a full recovery as he is also heading into free agency.
