It’s official. Christie Sides is out, and the Indiana Fever are now looking for a new head coach. This paves the way for Stephanie White to return to Indiana, where she spent time both as a player and part of the coaching staff.
White, the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year, will no longer return to the Connecticut Sun in 2025. There is reportedly a general belief that White is going to be the Fever’s next coach now that Sides is out of the picture.
Interestingly enough, an old statement from White about Indiana superstar Caitlin Clark has recently resurfaced on X. In it, the former Fever guard/forward called out the media for the pressure they were piling on the rookie so early on in her WNBA career.

“When I’m looking at all these things that people are talking about with Caitlin Clark, it’s like, ‘Guys, chill out,'” White said previously. “She’s gonna be fine. It’s two games in, are you kidding me?
“She’s a student of the game, she got better every year. You’re not gonna just absorb all of the new information that’s coming at you in two games, in two weeks. It takes time. And she will. I have no doubt about it.”
Since the video was reposted on Sunday night, it has amassed more than 220,000 views (as of writing). There are also more than a few fans in the comments section who are adamant that White is indeed heading to Indiana.
Towards the latter part of her statement, White mentioned that Clark’s shortcomings — at least after her second game with the Fever — are something that she may need to work on during the offseason.
“These are also points that coaches address,” White continued. “It’s really hard to work on some of those things in-season. So this might be an offseason thing… When we get time in the offseason, then we’ll work on that next step or that next level.”
Well, White might just get the chance to do that with Caitlin Clark if the Fever are able to successfully lure her to Indiana.
