Country music icon Shania Twain raised eyebrows with her appearance on Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper’s New Year’s Eve special on CNN. Despite looking stunning under the stage lights, some viewers speculated that she had undergone unnecessary cosmetic procedures.
“Shania Twain. Botox ruined her, though,” one person commented on X, formerly Twitter. Another user expressed concern, saying: “Uh, what the **** happened to Shania Twain? Jesus, people, stay away from the plastic surgery!” A third person asked, “What happened to Shania Twain’s face?! #CNNNYE.”
Some even mistook her for another celebrity, with one person noting, “Why did I think Shania Twain was Lindsay Lohan? #CNNNYE.”
Others claimed that the Canadian singer was almost unrecognizable, with one stating, “Shania Twain doesn’t even look like herself.”
Twain’s appearance generated as much buzz as the CNN special itself, which was hosted by Cooper and his friend, Bravo’s Andy Cohen.
The duo is known for hosting the CNN New Year’s Eve Live show, which features celebrity interviews and a unique tradition: taking liquor shots every hour starting at 8 p.m.
While hosting, Andy and Anderson openly shared their thoughts throughout the evening, their inhibitions eased by a few drinks. When rain unexpectedly arrived, Andy initially joked about their lack of umbrellas, but later, the two were spotted sharing a clear umbrella.
Holding it above them, Andy remarked: “The rain is really coming down. It’s no joke.”
He then turned to Anderson with a questioning glance and asked: “Is this the hardest it’s going to fall or is it going to get worse? ” Anderson responded with a light-heartedly, jokingly telling Andy not to curse them by bringing it up. He quipped: “Do you know that you’re not supposed to talk about things like that? Because obviously, it’s only encouraging the weather gods to make it worse.”
