While Taylor Swift waited until October to publicly endorse President Joe Biden in 2020, the 14-time Grammy winner couldn’t wait that long to announce her choice in 2024.

Due to her friendship with Brittany Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, who’s liked several posts supporting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, fans started to question whether Swift switched parties.

However, Swift, who grew close to Brittany after she started dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, put an end to such speculation. Following Trump’s first debate against Kamala Harris on September 10, the global superstar made it clear that she will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz while providing detailed reasons why.

Swift posted on Instagram, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

Swift also sent a scathing message about Trump, who reposted fake images of her appearing to endorse him as president on X.

She wrote, “Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

As for why she’s voting for Harris/Walz, “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

In a jab to Trump’s vice presidential candidate, JD Vance, Swift closed out her endorsement by signing it, “With love and hope, Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady.”
