People who tuned into the Emmys last night were left stunned by the four-word message Martin Short uttered to Selena Gomez.
Many of the greats of modern television were at the Emmys last night (Sunday 15).
Amongst the stars were Only Murders In The Building stars Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez.
The trio took the stage together to present the first award of the evening, for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
The award ultimately went to Ebon Moss-Bachrach for his role in The Bear, but before the winner could take the stage, Gomez, Short, and Martin charmed the audience with their signature chemistry and a comedic skit.
Gomez kicked off the banter, joking: “What a magical evening it’s been trying to remember people’s names,” to which Short quipped: “And pretending that we’ve seen their shows.”
Martin followed up with a witty observation about Hollywood: “When I see an actor I don’t know, I just say, ‘I loved your scene with Nicole Kidman,’ and nine times out of ten I’m right.”

However, it wasn’t the skit that melted hearts – it was a quiet moment between Gomez and Short just before they reached the microphone.
As the trio made their way on stage, Gomez, seemingly nervous or unsteady in her heels, whispered: “I’m about to fall.”
In response, Short sweetly reassured her, saying: “I got you baby,” while placing his arm around her.
Fans, naturally, loved the interaction.
One person said: “I love this because she is open about her anxiety in these situations and he’s so kind.”
A second said: “Martin Short saying to selena „i got you baby” to make her feel more comfortable on stage oh my gawd i love them so much [sic].”
Though Only Murders in the Building did not take home any awards, the trio’s onstage moment was a highlight of the evening.
