Why do NBA fans overlook Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum’s greatness?
Jayson Tatum is unquestionably one of the best players in the world. The Boston Celtics forward is an elite scorer, playmaker, rebounder, screener and high-level defender. Last season, he helped lead the Celtics to a franchise 18th championship while operating as their star player.
Despite Tatum’s status as one of the world’s best players, the NBA fan base often overlooks him. He isn’t braggadocious. He doesn’t play with a highlight-worthy swagger. Instead, Tatum is falling firmly into the Tim Duncan category: quietly elite with a team-first mentality. Coaches and other players love him, but the wider fan base doesn’t see the appeal.
