A new season has brought with it a new look for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.
The three-time All-Star showed off his freshly manicured facial hair during the team’s media day on Tuesday, but he did promise his beard will “be back” at some point.
Brown’s beard has been a hallmark of his look throughout his NBA career. He has even talked about how people asked him the secrets to maintaining perfectly groomed facial hair.
During an appearance on GQ‘s “10 Things I Can’t Live Without” (starts at 5:15 mark), Brown didn’t get into all of the specifics about what he did to keep an ideal beard. He did mention using a pick and putting “berries and juices in there to make sure it’s lush.”
The new look for Brown comes amid increased expectations as he enters his ninth NBA season. He is coming off a 2023-24 campaign that saw him win Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals MVP en route to leading the Celtics to the franchise’s 18th title.
Brown averaged 23.9 points on 51.6 percent shooting, 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in 19 starts during the postseason.
The Celtics and Denver Nuggets will be the first two teams to hold their media days for the 2024-25 season. Denver will host its media day on Thursday. The two teams will open the preseason schedule on Oct. 4 and 6 in Abu Dhabi.
Sadly, Brown’s full beard will not be able to make the trip with the Celtics.
