Unpublished photos of Lady Di, the people’s princess

Here are some rare images of Princess Diana, one of the most photographed figures on the face of the Earth.

These photographs offer a unique perspective of Lady Di, who, due to her compassionate nature and love for the people, has been recognized as the People’s Princess. Her legacy will live on as that of the woman who transformed Britain and the monarchy.

The prominence of this distinguished princess came with her engagement to Prince Charles, the firstborn son of Queen Elizabeth II and heir to the British throne. Since her presence became public, Diana was under constant scrutiny. The paparazzi followed his every step and, according to many, contributed to his tragic fate.

The following images show a different aspect of Diana, reminding us why she was so appreciated.
On her wedding day, July 29, 1981, Diana was so excited and even confused that she named her future husband Philip Charles Arthur George instead of simply Charles Philip.
The wedding gifts Charles and Diana received were absolutely unique. The Reagans, for example, gifted them a handmade porcelain centerpiece and an engraved Steuben glass bowl. They also received centuries-old silk gloves and a watch set with diamonds and sapphires, among others.

According to her brother Charles Spencer, Diana had a hard time wearing the tiara at first because it caused headaches.

“At night we all went to a kind of semi-private party and she was there and I just remember that she also had a tremendous headache because she wasn’t used to wearing a tiara all morning,” she said in an interview.

As special as it was, Diana’s wedding dress caused her some problems as the designers of the 25-foot train did not take into account how difficult it would be to get into the royal carriage. When she got into the carriage, Lady Di’s dress was slightly crushed, and as a result it looked very wrinkled.

In this photo, Diana was presented with sketches of her dress, which were later destroyed to prevent anyone from taking a look at them.

Charles and Diana were photographed on their honeymoon. A lip reader said at the time that during their conversation, the newlyweds said, “The honeymoon was the ideal time to catch up on sleep…”

The capture of this photograph dates back to 1980, before Diana assumed her title of princess and when the engagement was announced.
