He’s halfway there. Jake Bongiovi, Bon Jovi’s son, starring in ’80s hair metal movie.
Jake Bongiovi may be best known as the son of Jon Bon Jovi and the boyfriend of “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown, but he’s also a model and an actor on the rise.
And his next role brings him right back to his Jersey family legacy.
Variety reports that Bongiovi, 20, whose famous father is the frontman of Bon Jovi, has been cast in a comedy film about an ’80s hair metal band named CougarSnake.
Bongiovi, who has quite a following of his own on social media, will appear in the movie “Rockbottom” alongside star Tom Everett Scott (”That Thing You Do!,” “An American Werewolf in Paris”) and fellow Jersey actor Teala Dunn (“Crush”), as well as McKaley Miller (“Ma”) and Brandon Butler (”13 Reasons Why”).
The film, directed by Todd Tucker and scripted by Tucker and Greg Zekowski, follows CougarSnake’s collapse and resurrection decades later. Scott is Jesse, the bass player from the original band. Miller plays his daughter, Alex, while Dunn plays Alex’s friend Kat. They both urge him to launch a CougarSnake comeback.
Bongiovi plays Justin, who could become the new lead singer of the band but has a bad case of stage fright — the young actor might want to consult his dad on that one.
Jake, who is signed to WME and IMG Models, is the son of high school sweethearts Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea (Hurley) Bongiovi.
Bon Jovi, born John Bongiovi Jr., was born in Perth Amboy and went to high school at St. Joseph in Metuchen and Sayreville War Memorial High School in Parlin, where he met Dorothea.
Fittingly enough, Jake will make his film debut in the upcoming movie “Sweethearts,” starring Kiernan Shipka (”Mad Men,” “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) and Nico Haraga (”Booksmart”), co-written and directed by “Dollface” creator Jordan Weiss. The movie filmed in Jersey City and Cranford and at Ramapo College in Mahwah.
Jon Bon Jovi has an acting resume, too, including roles in the 2011 movie “New Year’s Eve” and “U-571″ (2000) and TV’s “Sex and the City” and “Ally McBeal.”
His son has 1.1 million followers on Instagram, where Jake just wished his girlfriend since 2021, Emmy nominee Brown, a happy birthday.
“Another year around the sun together happy 19th to the girl of my dreams,” Bongiovi said, sharing a series of photos of the couple asleep, awake and flashing their model poses. “I love you more than words can describe. Everything about you is golden down to the core.”
Bongiovi, a graduate of The Pennington School, was accepted to Syracuse University in 2020. He is the second youngest child of Dorothea Bongiovi and Bon Jovi. Like Brown, he’s the third of four children.
The other kids are Stephanie Rose Bongiovi, 29; Romeo Jon Bongiovi, 18; and Jesse Bongiovi, 28, who alongside his father is the co-founder of the rosé brand Hampton Water. Jesse recently got engaged to reality TV producer Jesse Light.
