The Duke of Sussex inherited more than $10 million on his 40th birthday Sunday, according to the London Times.
His great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, put approximately $25 million into a trust fund for her great-grandchildren in 1994, the outlet reported
Harry and his older brother, Prince William, reportedly claimed the money in two installments: on their 21st and 40th birthdays.
The siblings received $7.9 million between them when they turned 21 and another $10.5 million when they hit 40.
“There was a trust fund set up at the time. It was a way in which the Queen Mother could set aside money for when her great-grandchildren were older and a way of passing a slice of her estate down in a tax-efficient way,” a former palace aide told the newspaper.
“It was a way in which some of her estate could be ring-fenced for them.”
Page Six has reached out to Harry’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
previously reported that Harry was planning to celebrate his big day with a party organized by his wife, Meghan Markle, in Montecito, Calif., where they live.
On his big day, the Invictus Games founder received public birthday love from his father, King Charles III, William and his brother’s wife, Kate Middleton, on social media.
Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!” wrote the official X account of the royal family, which Charles’ office at Buckingham Palace runs.
The Waleses reposted the message, adding: “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!”
The birthday shout-out included a 2018 photo of Harry smiling while visiting Dogpatch Labs in Dublin. Markle, 43, was seemingly cropped out of the photo.
The Post reported that Harry would also receive a phone call from some of his relatives for his special day — despite their estrangement.
The “Spare” author has had a strained relationship with Charles, 75, and William, 42, since he and the “Suits” actress quit their royal duties and moved to North America in January 2020.
Harry and his wife now reside in a $14 million Montecito mansion with their two children: son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 3.
Days before returning 40, Harry said his kids were the “best gift” he had ever received.
“The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without a doubt, my kids,” he told People Wednesday.
“I enjoy watching them grow every single day, and I love being their dad.”
