Elvira claims that Brad Pitt let a 105-year-old neighbor rent-free use of his $40 million home.
In 1994, “Elvira” Cassandra Peterson sold the mansion to Brad Pitt, who then purchased it. In addition to becoming a new homeowner, she recently talked about another surprising role that Pitt played with People.
In 1994, Elvira Cassandra Peterson and Brad Pitt, then 54, paid $1.7 million for a 1.9-acre property. Before selling it this past March, he owned the property for thirty years.
In a recent exclusive interview with People, Peterson talked about her sale to the Oscar winner, their close relationship, and Pitt’s unexpected tenant.
According to the actress, Pitt’s expansion of the house was the catalyst for what happened next.
“I think there were roughly 22 houses near the edge of the property. And whenever one was available, he bought one,” the actress remarked.
A 90-year-old guy owned one of those houses. Pitt made an agreement to buy the piece of property on the family estate where the man could live.
He was quite kind to the husband. Peterson claims that after his wife passed away, the husband, John, moved in. “I am aware that Brad gave him free housing there until his death.”
However, the man lingered there a bit longer than expected: “John lived to be 105, so it was kind of funny.”
The actress said that John “just kept living forever” and that Brad was probably thinking, “Well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now.”
After buying a house near her old residence, Peterson spent several years living next to Pitt. She described him as kind and giving. She recounted a particular instance when she was out walking her dog and ran into Pitt:
“I see that Brad just wears sweatpants when I pass his garage. He’s wearing boxing gloves and punching a bag. I swear, I nearly fainted.
“I still imagine him saying, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and me saying, ‘Huh?’” I couldn’t speak. I became red in the face. “I thought I was going to faint,” she says. In addition to being incredibly attractive, he’s pleasant.
Pitt spent a number of years living in the recently sold home with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, and their kids prior to their 2016 divorce.
