All you need to know about Jaylen Brown’s sportswear brand ‘741 Performance’: Release date, ordering details and more
Jaylen Brown is coming off a historic season, winning his first NBA title, and was named the finals MVP. The Boston Celtics star continues to do big things with the launch of his own shoe company on Tuesday. Brown announced the new brand “741 Performance” on Instagram and showed off a sleek black version of his signature shoe.
Fans can pre-order the shoe on 741performance.com, with the release date set for Oct. 22, the same day the NBA regular season starts.
Per an article from Ben Felderstein on Complex.com, the numbers 7, 4 and 1 have personal significance to the Georgia native. The numbers have been significant over the course of Brown’s life, and he believes they stand for “spiritual awakening, hard work and new beginnings.”
Several companies were keen to sign the three-time All-Star to a shoe deal this summer, and the figures being thrown around were apparantely colossal. Brown, though, decided to take the bold decision of creating his own brand.
Jaylen Brown was partly inspired by the late, great Kobe Bryant to go out on his own an build a company that supports his values. He said:
“Kobe’s journey taught me about being fearless and pushing sports, along with society, to new heights. That’s the mindset I’m bringing to 741.”
The shoes Brown will use next season have been a major taking point for basketball fans. The NBA star has worn a range of sneakers over the last two seasons and covered up the logos with various images.

Although there was no announcement for the “741 Performance” brand until this week, Jaylen Brown teased fans with a glimpse of his new shoe earlier this summer.
Brown was spotted at the famous Rucker Park in New York taking a shot on Sept. 6. Fans flocked to the Harlem playground to catch a glimpse of the NBA champion. Brown surprised the group when he gave the shoes off his feet to one lucky boy who answered a basketball trivia question correctly.
The young fan was ecstatic and ran around the court after securing the cool new sneakers. Fans in the backgroud could be heard shouting “unreleased, unreleased!”
