Jelly Roll Shares Surprising Confession About Taylor Swift Album
Jelly Roll is a self-identified Swiftie.
The “Need a Favor” crooner couldn’t help but voice his support for Taylor Swift while walking the red carpet at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards this week, where he gave his honest opinion about her latest studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Ahead of the award show ceremony, which aired on Thursday, Dec. 12, Jelly was asked about his personal music listening habits this year, including the artists who he’s been listening to the most.
Jelly, who called himself a “fan first” when it comes to the music industry, named a number of big names on the music scene lately, which of course included the “So High School” songstress.
While sharing his most listened-to songs of this year, Jelly said, “A lot of The Tortured Poets Department.“
“Taylor, I thought, had a great album,” he added.
And the country singer’s assessment of Swift’s latest work clearly wasn’t an unpopular opinion, as Tortured Poets was named the Top Billboard 200 Album at Thursday night’s awards, in addition to the 9 other wins Swift had for the evening.
But Swift, 35, isn’t the only artist who’s been on Jelly’s playlists lately, as the “Save Me” singer also named rising star Chappell Roan as one of the artists he has listened to the most this year.
He also mentioned Sabrina Carpenter for her album Short n’ Sweet, as well as Lainey Wilson‘s Whirlwind, Cody Johnson‘s Leather, and Kelsea Ballerini‘s Patterns, which just released this fall.
“I’m sorry, I’m excited,” Jelly told the cameras with a laugh, but the fans were loving his passionate support of his fellow artists.
“I love a man with great taste in music,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote in response to Jelly’s red carpet interview, while someone else added, “PREACH KING.”
“he’s such a sweetheart he deserves all of his success,” another person added.
