Jelly Roll Fans Say He ‘Poured His Heart Out’ During ‘Unforgettable’ Onstage Moment

The country star was a performer and nominee at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.

Jelly Roll performs during half time of the game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on November 28, 2024 in Arlington, Texas.

Jelly Roll delivered a performance to remember as part of the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), which aired on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The country music star sang “I Am Not Okay,” a tearjerker of a song featured on his October 2024 album Beautifully Broken, as his first of two BBMAs performances. The song was recorded during a stop along Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken Tour, which is slated to resume in early 2025.

The “Son of a Sinner” singer appeared onstage dressed in a black shirt and matching black pants. He wore a brown button-down jacket over his top and paired the look with a backward baseball cap as he gripped a microphone in one hand for the emotional song.

As cameras capturing Jelly Roll’s performance scanned the crowd, audience members could be seen applauding and singing along as they absorbed the powerful moment. The BBMAs later shared a clip on X, formerly Twitter, showing Jelly Roll soaking in his fans’ reactions, a huge smile splashed across his face as he thumped his fist against his chest to the sound of a roaring crowed.

Fans on social media were quick to heap praise on the “Wild Ones” singer after the performance aired on Thursday.

“Jelly Roll can’t be making me cry this early in the night,” one fan tweeted as another admitted, “I don’t even listen to jelly roll but man does this song make me cry.”

“Jelly Roll poured his heart out on that stage,” one fan praised. “Unforgettable moment.”

“I love Jelly Roll! ❤️,” an X user gushed as another said it is “always a pleasure to hear his voice.”

Shortly after his performance aired, the BBMAs shared a clip on X showing Jelly Roll reacting to receiving his first-ever Billboard Music Award. He won in the Top Hard Rock Song category for his guest feature in Falling In Reverse’s “All My Life.” Jelly Roll also picked up nominations in the Top Song Sales Artist and Top Rock Artist categories.
