However, it’s not ex-Strictly partner Giovanni Pernice who is holding her back. Despite stating that she was left with “mild PTSD” after her experience on the show, the real reason she’s exiting the reality world is her passion for acting.

“This is my job and I’ve come back to it – my proper day job,” she revealed. “I’ve been doing it for 30 years.”

When asked if she prefers acting, she gave us a resounding yes – and clearly wasn’t thrilled at the thought of taking the typical celeb route of going into the Australian jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Instead, the actress – who is best-known for her BBC roles on Sherlock and Mr Selfridge – will continue perfecting her craft.

She is currently performing to intimate audiences of just 200 people as she acts out the real-life story of a traumatised mother whose daughter has been raped.

The event dredges up painful memories of her own sexual assault when she was a similar age, but the play ends with the pair connecting in a way the audience might never have expected.

When It Happens To You continues to run until the end of the month at London’s Park Theatre – and the woman who wrote the story based on her real-life experiences has been in the audience herself.

It’s a situation Amanda described as “nerve-wracking” as she admitted she felt a responsibility to do her character justice with a “good interpretation”.

“It’s very important to me – I like to speak for women who haven’t got a voice,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Amanda has other ventures in the future – including teaming up with Corrie’s Maureen Lipman with a sitcom and penning an autobiography of her own.

However, anyone expecting her to lay her experience with Giovanni Pernice bare will be disappointed, as that won’t be one of the topics she’ll spill the beans about.

“I think we can put that to bed,” she declared, adding: “I’m focusing on the play and my family at the moment.”

Instead, any future book she publishes would cover her life and other aspects of her career.
Amanda Abbington has made it clear that her reality TV days are behind her, with no intentions of returning to the genre.

Despite her past experience causing some emotional distress, it is her love for acting that has drawn her back to her true passion.

With over 30 years in the industry, she has no desire to take the celebrity route of appearing on shows like I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Currently, Abbington is fully immersed in her role in the play “When It Happens To You,” where she portrays a mother dealing with the aftermath of her daughter’s assault.

This emotionally charged performance hits close to home for Abbington, who herself is a survivor of sexual assault. The play explores the complex emotions and connections that arise from such traumatic experiences, giving voice to those who may not have one.

Despite her current focus on her acting career, Abbington also has exciting future projects in the works. From collaborating on a sitcom with Maureen Lipman to writing her autobiography, she is continuously expanding her creative endeavors.

However, fans hoping for details about her past Strictly Come Dancing experience with Giovanni Pernice may be disappointed, as she remains tight-lipped on the topic.

As Abbington continues to captivate audiences with her powerful performances, she remains dedicated to using her platform to advocate for those who may not have a voice.

Through her work on stage and screen, she strives to shed light on important issues and bring forth meaningful storytelling. Stay tuned for more updates on Abbington’s upcoming projects and her impactful contributions to the world of entertainment.
