Sheryl has been accused of pushing co-hosts out amid tension

THE Talk’s Sheryl Underwood is allegedly responsible for creating a “toxic work environment” on set and has even walked out of meetings, sources have claimed.

The U.S. Sun revealed this week that the atmosphere on the CBS show is “tense” and Sheryl, 61, often appears disconnected from the other hosts.

It comes as the daytime show is winding down and set to end in less than a month with a final episode airing on December 20.

Now, insiders allege just how bad things have been at the studio with Sheryl and her co-hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, and Jerry O’Connell.

One source claimed to The U.S. Sun, “Sheryl is unreasonable to deal with. She’s forced out Carrie Ann [Inaba] and Sharon [Osbourne] and the staff is still reeling from it.

“She refuses to speak to people and walks out of meetings if they don’t go her way and creates a toxic work environment by refusing to take direction from higher-ups.

“She was the catalyst for both Carrie Ann and Sharon’s exits.”

SHARON’S EXIT

Sharon left The Talk in March 2021 after a heated on-air exchange with co-host Sheryl over race, as she defended comments made by British TV host Piers Morgan about Meghan Markle.

She told Sheryl at the time, “Educate me, tell me when you have heard him say racist things… I very much feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend, who many people think is a racist, so that makes me a racist?”

Accusations of racist comments also led to an internal investigation by CBS, who later claimed Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode “did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”

Carrie Ann then announced she was leaving a month later after taking a four-month leave of absence to focus on her well-being.

“The other four current hosts are lovely and so kind to everyone but Sheryl has always made things really difficult and caused the show a lot of problems,” the insider claimed to The U.S. Sun.

“The network has done absolutely nothing to stop this behavior.”

A second source claimed, “When Sharon left is when things changed. Everyone loved her. It’s never recovered since then. The staff and crew still miss Sharon.”

A show insider this week commented on the awkward situation on set, claiming Sheryl is often sitting alone, texting, and “keeps to herself while the others will get up to talk to each other.”

“When just Jerry is out and walking around, the vibe is super fun. When Sheryl came out it seemed noticeably tenser with both crew and the on-camera cast,” the source added.

“Everyone gets more serious too, it’s just a different vibe. Almost like when the principal is in the classroom and everyone has to be on their best behavior and can’t relax.”

The alleged tension dates back to around 2021, when a source claimed to The U.S. Sun that Sheryl would not allow producers to speak to her directly.

“When any of the producers have questions about their segments they are required to go through Sheryl’s personal producer,” the insider claimed at the time.

“This arrangement came from Sheryl after learning staff was complaining to HR that she was mean and combative to deal with.”

Reps for The Talk have not responded to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

END OF AN ERA

In April, it was announced The Talk would be ending after 15 years.

In a statement, CBS executives announced, “The Talk broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format.

“Throughout the years, it has been a key program on CBS’ top-rated daytime line-up as it brought timely, important, and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the globe.

“It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task.

“We express our sincere gratitude to our amazing hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Sheryl Underwood, our executive producer-showrunner Rob Crabbe, and the hardworking producing team and crew.

“We also want to acknowledge our former show hosts and colleagues who contributed throughout the seasons.”

The network added, “We truly appreciate the skill, creativity, and dedication everyone involved brought to the show every day.

“And of course, we thank the numerous guests who appeared and the millions of viewers who tuned in daily.

“For the final season, we plan to celebrate the show and give it the proper sendoff it deserves when it concludes in December 2024.”

According to Deadline, the long-running series is the lowest-rated show on CBS’ daytime programming block.
