The Pittsburgh Steelers have made another addition to their receiver corps ahead of the NFL trade deadline, with reports claiming Mike Williams has been acquired in a deal with the New York Jets.

Williams recently came under fire from quarterback Aaron Rodgers after running the wrong route in a loss to the Buffalo Bills, after which the Jets went out and got Davante Adams.

That he’s been traded is no surprise. But the fact that he’s going to Pittsburgh has left some fans puzzled, given their crowded WR room.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Williams is joining Mike Tomlin’s side in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Mike Williams’ Move To Pittsburgh Is A Polarizing One, To Say The Least

The news regarding Williams seems to have divided the Steelers fan base.

Some fans found the trade intriguing.

“Here we go!! Healthy off his ACL tear last season, Williams was simply collecting dust in New York,” a fan declared. “Mike Williams = GREAT at catching deep balls, Russell Wilson = GREAT at throwing deep ballsIn Tomlin We Trust 🙌🏽.”

“We’re going to the superbowl,” another wrote.

“Steelers all in behind Russ. Good pick up if he can stay healthy,” a third comment read.

However, there were just as many who didn’t feel like it would move the needle.

,”Lowkey an overpay,” a user wrote.

“Feel like this doesn’t make a huge impact,” someone added.

“Mid to mid,” said another.

Of course, time will tell. But he’s likely to get more opportunities in Pittsburgh than he would have gotten in New York.
