Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell became emotional after their performance on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The comedian, 47, is the first blind contestant in the history of the BBC show, and on Saturday he and partner Dianne scored 36 out of 40 for their Viennese waltz to Metallica track Nothing Else Matters.
With his arm around Dianne, Chris held back tears as he told host Claudia Winkleman: ‘When you start this series, they ask you for a list of songs you like. And I put this song on it and didn’t know anything about dancing.
‘Underneath it, I wrote “I reckon this might suit one of those spinny whizzy ones” and I was right! But it’s incredible and it felt wonderful to do it with Diane.’
Friends of the CBeebies star had come to support him the studio audience at the semi-final, and he admitted he was an ’emotional wreck’ with them there.
He warned Claudia: ‘Don’t get me started, I’m an emotional wreck tonight. I’m telling you.’

He added: ‘You know what you’re doing is big when your really close mates don’t take the mickey out of you.’
Meanwhile, Dianne then made a plea with the public as to why she and Chris should be in the final this week as she insisted she ‘could not be prouder’ of what he has achieved.
She said: ‘I have taught Chris this whole time without a single visual cue. He’s never been able to watch a video back to see whether he’s done a good job
‘He’s never been able to see his competitors, or what the competition is like but he has cpatured the spirit of this show
‘I could not be prouder of him.’
Fans at home were in agreement with Dianne, and one even called for viewers to ‘boycott’ the show altogether if they do not lift the Glitterball Trophy.
One said: ‘If Chris & Diane do not WIN #Strictly then there seriously needs to be a BOYCOTT of this show because Pete [Wicks] is being marked unnecessary kindly when we have a man who has learned steps to dances with no visual queue’s & is graceful & beautiful to watch,it’s brought a tear to my eye.'(sic)
Another demanded that Dianne to receive a Damehood for her efforts, as they said: ‘I think Chris McCausland is a good bet to win the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing title. Diane Buswell deserves a knighthood or whatever the lady equivalent is.’

Dianne fought back the tears when she spoke about how her co-star had learned to dance without his sight
Chris chose the Metallica track to dance to as it is one of his personal favourites and joked that he thought it would go well with one of those ‘spinny whizzy ones’
Despite Chris and Dianne’s success with their waltz, judge Craig Revel Horwood had an issue with their first dance as he noted that their Charleston was ‘slightly under energised.’
But Chris hit back at the champion dancer and told him that this was his chance to say ‘something nice’ this far into the competition
But a third fan still has no idea whether the ultimate champions will be Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec, JLS singer JB Gill and Lauren Oakley or Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola.
Also competing is TOWIE star Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal, and the X user admitted that it is the ‘hardest year ever’ to pick a winner.
They wrote: ‘This must be the hardest year ever when it comes to #Strictly because I legit can’t tell who will win!’

Chris hit back: ‘Listen. This is the semifinal. This is your opportunity to say something nice!’
In the end, the pair received a mere seven from Craig.
