Kansas City suffered a massive loss during their game against the division rival Los Angeles Chargers, as star wide receiver Rashee Rice was forced to leave the game with a knee injury.

Rice had to be carted off the field after he was on the receiving end of a nasty hit by his own teammate.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a first-quarter interception Sunday against the Charters, and in an attempt to tackle Los Angeles’ cornerback Kristian Fulton, he hit Rice directly in the knee.

His hustle may have cost him a playmaker.

Just before halftime, head coach Andy Reid made it clear that the injury Rashee Rice suffered was “not good.”

This is horrible news as Rice has emerged as the top receiving option for Mahomes in the young season, entering Week 4 with a team-high 24 catches with 288 yards and two touchdowns in three games.

With Travis Kelce’s sudden disappearance, no one truly knows who will be the team’s offensive leader going forward.

Rashee Rice entered off his best game of the season, recording 12 catches for 110 receiving yards and a touchdown in a road win over the Falcons last week.

He did not record a catch Sunday before the injury.

We will know even more about the state of his injury after he goes through more tests to see if Rice will be out for weeks, months or for the entire season.

In the meantime, everybody on offense for the Chiefs will need to step up until he can return or be the man if he doesn’t return this season.
