‘No perfect anything’: Nicole Kidman’s big admission about marriage to Keith Urban after awkward question

Nicole Kidman has shut down a reporter’s question about her two-decade marriage to Keith Urban and admitted she does not believe in a “perfect” relationship.

Aussie Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has made a rare comment about her 18-year marriage to Keith Urban and claimed there is no such thing as a “perfect” couple.

Kidman, 57, recently did the media rounds to promote her new Netflix show The Perfect Couple alongside co-star Liev Schreiber.

The series is a mystery drama about a glamourous and famous novelist played by Kidman with a seemingly perfect marriage.

Despite her own high-profile marriage, Kidman said she doesn’t believe in “perfect” relationships.

“There’s no perfect anything,” Kidman told entertainment program E! News when asked if she believes in “a perfect couple”.

“Anything that’s presented as perfect… forget it.”

Kidman was then asked how she and Keith feel about being referred to as “a perfect couple” in the media, but the five-time Academy Award nominee was visibly displeased with the question.

“I don’t see any of that,” she said.

“No, I don’t see that.”

Schreiber, who is the former long-time partner of Kidman’s real-life best friend Naomi Watts, agreed that there is no “perfect” relationship.

“There are certain things you just want to share with the person who is your partner and you don’t want anyone else’s opinion,” he said.

The interview was published by E! overnight but it is unclear when the sit-down was recorded as Kidman is currently in Australia following the sudden death of her mother Janelle Kidman.

Kidman was at the Venice Film Festival last week to promote her new film Babygirl but rushed back to Sydney at short notice following her mother’s death at age 84.

As a result, the Aussie movie star was not present when she was awarded the best actress prize at the festival on Saturday.

Instead, Babygirl director Halina Reijn appeared on stage to accept the award and read out a short speech from Kidman.

“Today I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed,” Kidman’s statement read.

“I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me, and she made me.

“I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken. We love you all.”
