We have a personnel move to announce within the Montreal Canadiens organization, and it involves goalie Luke Cavallin.
Once again, he has been recalled by the Laval Rocket. As we reported last night, Jakub Dobes unfortunately suffered an injury against the Toronto Marlies.
This explains the recall of Cavallin.
Luke Cavallin recalled by the Laval Rocket
See the official confirmation.
This is Cavallin’s third recall, as he arrives in Laval just in time to face his former team, the Toronto Marlies (the Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate).
At this point, we can only hope that the injury suffered by Jakub Dobes on Friday night is not too serious.
It truly feels like he was on the verge of getting a call-up from Kent Hughes and an opportunity with the big club, so this injury comes at the worst possible time.
Until his return, Connor Hughes will be the undisputed number 1 for Pascal Vincent’s squad.
Dobes, 23, has a record of 8-3-1 this season, with a 2.55 GAA and a .904 save percentage.
Hughes, 28, has a record of 6-3-1 this season, with a 2.17 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
As for Cavallin, 23, he played 9 games with the Marlies last season (AHL) and posted a 2.99 GAA with a .884 save percentage.
He has been incredible with the Trois-Rivières Lions this year (1.51 GAA and .952 save percentage).
Details will follow.
