He roasted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in front of the A-lister audience and said: “This will be the one place where you [might] see Arnold Schwarzenegger sitting next to Nikki Glaser sitting next to a family therapist with music by Mannequin Pussy.
“This is a really fun experiment. Not since Harry and Meghan has Netflix given more money to someone without a specific plan.”
A source from within the audience told the Mail: “It was shocking to me that Netflix would seemingly allow Meghan and Harry to be ridiculed at such a prestige event.
‘”And how strange that a show by the couple who signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix barely featured – apart from one brief clip in a montage.”
The insider added: “It really felt like Netflix don’t give a d*mn.”
Harry and Meghan reportedly signed an £80 million five-year deal in 2020 with the streaming giant.
It comes as With Love, Meghan, is set to be released in March after it was postponed amid the LA fires.
Meghan said in a statement to Tudum, the official companion site to Netflix: “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.”
The show’s original release date was January 15.
Meghan’s new show will feature eight 33 minute episodes with a host of her various Hollywood friends trying her simple, yet “elevated”, food.
Prince Harry made an appearance in the trailer, there are 11 other big names set to star alongside the duchess.
Meanwhile, the duke’s own Netflix show, Polo, has faced some criticism with royal experts hailing it as “dull”.
The documentary followed elite global players on and off the field, with the “sexy” sport billed in the trailer as showcasing “dirty, sweaty boys…riding”.
This was the Sussexes’ first Netflix project since Heart Of Invictus, which aired some 17 months ago.
It followed Live To Lead, about leaders who have dedicated themselves to social justice, in 2022, and before that, the couple’s controversial six-part Harry & Meghan documentary.
In Harry & Meghan, the duke and duchess shed light on their troubled life within the royal family, accusing Kensington Palace of lying to protect William, and Charles, now King, of lying at the Megxit summit.
While some fans enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at their lives, many took issue with their criticism of the royal family.
The docuseries was Netflix’s most-watched show in the UK in 2022 but currently has a 43 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Amid their Netflix woes, a royal expert has hinted that Meghan and Harry could be eyeing up a shocking move back to Britain.
The couple stepped down as senior royals five years ago in January 2020 before eventually moving to their new life in California.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show, Royal Correspondent at news.com.au Bronte Coy said she believes Prince Harry could be drawn back to Britain.
She said: “A lot of things have changed in the past five years and it’s entirely possible that, with some reflection, there’s a big part of him wondering if there’s a way to bring the UK back into his life.”
The expert was reacting to a comment quoted from a friend of the prince that read: “The goal for Prince Harry is simple.
“He wants to ensure the safety of himself and his family while in the UK so his children can know his home country and so he can help his patronages and their important work.”
It has led many to question whether the couple’s decision to abandon the UK five years ago could finally be reversed.
Bronte said: “When they left, they left in such a passionate blaze of glory – they were so disheartened and bruised by the situation they’d had back here.
“With all these things, once the dust settles and the emotion gets taken out of it a bit, the reality is he loves his home country – he talked about it in his memoir.
“After a few years, he probably just very much misses it.”
The expert added: “He’s probably looking at those children and thinking about the fact they haven’t spent time getting to know their roots.
“That includes the Spencer family as well as they’re based here in the UK.”
