A massive trade proposal has a surprise NFC team swooping in and winning the sweepstakes for Las Vegas Raiders superstar wide receiver Davante Adams.

Last week, news emerged that Davante Adams requested a trade from the Raiders. The 31-year-old is in the third season of a giant five-year, $140 million contract he signed after coming over via trade with the Green Bay Packers in 2022.

It has been widely reported that the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints are the front-runners to land Adams. The six-time Pro Bowler played with Jets signal-caller Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay from 20214 to 2021 and reunited with Derek Carr (his former Fresno State teammate) for one year with the Raiders in 2022.

But an intriguing blockbuster trade proposal has the Raiders stunning the NFL by instead trading Adams to another NFC contender in the Dallas Cowboys.

The Athletic had multiple beat writers share blockbuster trade proposals for Adams. Jon Machota, who covers the Cowboys, suggested a move that would see Dallas get the superstar pass-catcher in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and wide receiver Jalen Brooks:

“The Raiders will likely have better offers, but it’s difficult for the Cowboys to give up much more in terms of future draft picks. They recently made Dak Prescott the league’s highest-paid player and receiver CeeDee Lamb the second-highest-paid non-quarterback. They plan to eventually sign Micah Parsons to a deal that will likely make him the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback. Dallas is going to need as much draft help as possible to fill out its future rosters.

A seventh-round pick in 2023, Brooks is entering his second season. He has good size and upside. The Cowboys could also be willing to part with Jalen Tolbert in a different deal with a lesser draft pick. The 2022 third-round pick has been Dallas’ second-most-productive receiver through four games.”

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones admitted last week that the cap situation would make a trade for Davante Adams tough. But if Jerry Jones really wants to give his team the best chance to win this year, he can perform some crafty cap gymnastics and find a way to bring Adams into Dallas.

Through his first three games of 2024, Adams has 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has hit the 1,000-catch and 1,100-yard marks in each of the last four seasons.

Davante Adams Would Make Cowboys Super Bowl Contenders

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are already a dynamic QB-WR duo, but imagine if they made a move for a player who has been regarded as a top-five receiver for the better part of the last decade now.

Love or hate the Cowboys, Adams’ arrival would make Jeryr Jones’ group a bonafide Super Bowl contender.
