Fallout first got adapted from a video game into a TV show this year.
A second season was greenlit in April after the first one received widespread acclaim from fans, who went as far as dubbing it the ‘best show of 2024’.
It also received 16 Emmy nominations, and went on to win the award for Outstanding Music Supervision.
The sci-fi thriller is set in the aftermath of a terrible nuclear war between the US and China.
All the survivors have taken shelter in a series of fallout bunkers called Vaults, and never venture into the outside world.
Main character Lucy, who is played by Ella Purnell, decides to sneak a look at what is left of world that was destroyed.
She quickly discovers life is dangerous outside the Vaults, as the ruined wasteland she stumbles across is filled with dangerous characters who plan on staying alive at any cost.
Lucy quickly returns to her safe underground home – only to discover that her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) has been kidnapped.
This forces the heroine to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind in an attempt to track down her dad.
Deadline has confirmed Macaulay will be playing a long running character from the second season onwards, but no more details are known about his role.
Before this new gig, Macaulay featured in the tenth season of American Horror Story.
He also recently was a voice actor in Kid Cudi’s TV special Entergalactic.
