Sunny Hostin is no marriage counselor, but she sure has her opinions about Donald Trump and Melania Trump‘s relationship. On this morning’s episode of The View, Hostin speculated that Melania is trying to “undercut” her husband’s presidential campaign by speaking out in favor of reproductive rights.
The ladies kicked off today’s broadcast with a clip of Melania expressing the importance of “individual freedom” and the woman’s right to choose, all while Donald has been “bragging all over the campaign trail about how he’s the one who overturned Roe V. Wade.”
Speaking to the couple’s clashing takes on abortion rights, Hostin told the panel, “I think she hates him. We can all agree on that. That’s a given. I also think that she wants to take him out. She does not want to be the First Lady anymore.”
Hostin didn’t stop there.
“She doesn’t want to be the First Lady, she destroyed the Rose Garden. Who hates Christmas? Melania Trump hates Christmas. She doesn’t want to decorate for Christmas,” the co-host continued. “She doesn’t want anything to do with him. She doesn’t want to sleep in the same room as him. She can’t tolerate him.”
Whoopi Goldberg, for her part, reminded Hostin to use the word “allegedly” since most of her remarks were speculation. Joy Behar then added, “How do you know all this? You don’t know all this!”
But Hostin dug her heels in further, noting that she “really [thinks] this is [Melania’s] way of undercutting his bid for the presidency because then she doesn’t have to deal with him anymore.”

“I think that she wants to take him out and she’s doing a pretty damn good job of it,” she added.
However, Alyssa Farah Griffin — who worked for the Trump administration until she resigned in 2020 — had a different take on the topic.
“If Donald Trump loses, he likely goes to jail,” she said, referring to his legal troubles with Jan. 6 and the classified documents. “I’m not convinced Melania Trump wants to see the father of her children in jail.”
Meanwhile, Hostin wasn’t backing down. She reiterated that Melania allegedly doesn’t “sleep” with or “talk” to her husband, to which Griffin replied, “I honestly don’t know anything about their personal relationship.”
