Harry’s war against the media is nothing more than his attempts to quell freedom of the press
There was a time when British tabloid journalism was a cesspool – phone hackings, police briberies, and pap chases. It was thought it could go no lower when it was found out that the press hacked the voicemails of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler, giving her parents false hope that she was still alive.
This, and leakage of private information about Prince William, led to the Leveson inquiry in 2011, along with the eventual arrests and resignations of key figures, and payouts to victims of the hackings, including Dowler’s family.
In this, Harry is a decade too late. He complains of press intrusion involving his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy – namely, that news of him cheating led to their inevitable breakup.
Harry’s beef with the media just reveals his simmering resentment that his foibles were exposed to the public – his naked pool parties, his racist tirades, his blatantly misogynistic treatment of women.
This segues to his current despotic complex. He demands privacy. He demands that the press be silent regarding his shenanigans. He bleats of misinformation while his wife’s troll armies spread their poison across the internet.
As the UK courts deal with Harry as a vexatious litigant, it becomes more obvious that he wants nothing more than subservience to his will. Report only good things about him and Meghan; don’t criticise their behaviours, no matter how ridiculous; and ignore the fact that they themselves reveal private details about their own family.
In their own minds, they rule the world and everyone must bend to their will.
Well, Harry. You’re not in line to be the King. And even if you are, you don’t have the right to tell everyone around you to shut up. This will encourage us all the more to call you and your wife out.
Let the battle rage on.
