Since the start of the season, the Canadiens’ offense has been lacking a bit of bite, particularly in terms of intensity and toughness.
Elliotte Friedman has therefore identified three players that Kent Hughes should keep an eye on to bring some reinforcement to his team’s lineup.
Friedman reported it during an intermission discussion at last Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues. The Canadiens are looking for a big rugged forward.
The Canadiens’ GM is not necessarily looking for a skilled player but rather a forward who can add some grit to the third and fourth lines.
Three Names Targeted for a Trade Involving the Montreal Canadiens
The players mentioned by Friedman are Samuel Blais, currently playing with the Vancouver Canucks’ AHL affiliate, Liam O’Brien from the Utah team, and Nicolas Deslauriers of the Philadelphia Flyers.
In the case of Deslauriers, it would be a return to the Canadiens’ organization, as he played in Montreal for two seasons from 2017 to 2019.
These are clearly energy players who could add some depth to the team, and the cost to acquire these three players is likely not too high.
These are names to keep in mind if rumors persist that the Montreal Canadiens are genuinely seeking reinforcements for their third or fourth line with an energy player.
Personally, I would absolutely take a chance on Sammy Blais.
Otherwise, I know that Montreal Canadiens fans seem to have a fondness for Quebec native Nicolas Deslauriers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
