LeBron James’ son Bronny James may have faced criticism for his Summer League and preseason performances, but the Los Angeles Lakers rookie is making waves in the gaming world. Bronny recently won the Call of Duty Modern Warfare III tournament, defeating Charlotte Hornets star Grant Williams by racking up 84 points.
Bronny’s win earned him the Call of Duty championship belt, a $10,000 prize, and an exclusive preview of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. While Bronny’s basketball journey is still unfolding, his father has constantly supported him on and off the court.
Recently, LeBron made headlines by advocating for Bronny to get his operator skin in Call of Duty. The Los Angeles Lakers star took to his X account to advocate for his eldest son.
“Bronny just said he want his own ‘Skin’. @Activision @CallofDuty talk to me,” LeBron tweeted.
Call of Duty is one of the most popular video games known for its modern warfare gameplay featuring soldiers, guns, and competitive maps. It’s not just Bronny who’s a fan. NBA stars like Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, and Tyrese Haliburton are also hooked on the game.
While Bronny continues to make his mark in the gaming world, LeBron has yet to appear in the Call of Duty franchise, but Bronny’s influence might soon change that.
Fans Slam LeBron James For Advocating Bronny James in Video Game
Bronny James kicked off his NBA career as the No. 55 overall pick in the NBA draft. Many fans believe that the Lakers’ selection of Bronny was heavily influenced by his father’s legacy, sparking claims of nepotism. Critics argue that Bronny’s connection to LeBron helped him land his spot rather than solely his basketball talent.
Recently, the conversation shifted from the court to the gaming world when LeBron publicly supported Bronny’s success in the Call of Duty gaming community. Many were surprised by LeBron’s level of involvement in Bronny’s gaming pursuits, feeling that it was another example of LeBron making his son’s path easier.
Bronny’s performance in the preseason also fueled the fans. He went scoreless in his last two preseason games. Fans argue that Bronny should dedicate more time to honing his athletic abilities than participating in gaming tournaments.
Bronny continues navigating the pressures of being the son of one of the greatest NBA players ever. How Bronny answers to all the criticism in the upcoming games will remain to be seen.
