Every season in the NFL, there are major injuries that completely change the trajectory of a team’s season. Last year, for instance, it was Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, followed by Kirk Cousins in October and Joe Burrow in November. Season-defining injuries can happen at any position, but it’s especially felt when it’s a star quarterback that goes down.

This year, it has come for the Miami Dolphins. A terrifying concussion suffered by Tua Tagovailoa has knocked him out until at least Week 8. Given his concussion history, that return date isn’t exactly a given. In his absence, the team has struggled mightily, losing two games by blowout and narrowly beating the flailing New England Patriots this past weekend.

With the team in disarray, Tua’s future murky and the team’s season as a whole hanging by a thread, many have wondered if the front office might choose to offload veteran Tyreek Hill for a healthy trade haul.

Tyreek Hill had a ‘special connection’ with Patrick Mahomes

That doesn’t seem to be the case, but Hill posted a cryptic message about Patrick Mahomes that got people wondering. Hill posted a throwback of his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, hugging Mahomes with the caption: “This connection was special“.

It certainly was, as Hill made four straight Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams with Mahomes throwing him the ball. They only won one Super Bowl before Hill went to the Dolphins.

With the Chiefs needing wide receiver help due to injuries, many have speculated that a reunion could be on tap in order to chase another ring together. But it would take a hefty sum.
