The stage of the Latin Grammys 2024 was the meeting point of two apparently distant musical styles: Jon Bon Jovi’s rock and Pitbull’s reggaeton. In a performance that surprised the attendees, both artists teamed up to present the remix “Now or Never”, a revamped version of Bon Jovi’s classic “It’s My Life”.

The combination of Bon Jovi’s powerful guitar riffs and Pitbull’s infectious lines resulted in a show full of energy and party.

The structure of the song remained faithful to the original, with the Bon Jovi chorus intact, while the Cuban-American rapper printed his personal style with phrases such as “Just live your life like Frank Sinatra, your way, and have no fear,” Variety recorded.

This moment at the Latin Grammys was not the first in which Bon Jovi and Pitbull have shared the stage. In September, during Pitbull’s “Party After Dark Tour”, both artists surprised the audience at the Jones Beach Theater in New York with the premiere of this collaboration.

On the eve of the gala, both figures also premiered the official video for “Now or Never”, which includes images of the concert in New York. In this way, the remix was officially released on digital platforms.

On the other hand, Jon Bon Jovi was also in charge of presenting Carlos Vives as Person of the Year, highlighting the positive influence of the Colombian artist on Latin music.

In his speech, Bon Jovi praised the legacy of the vallenato promoter, and highlighted the transcendence of his songs in the global community. “You’ve used your voice to create a better world through your music,” Bon Jovi said, “and that’s one of the many reasons why you deserve this recognition.”

The gala also featured the participation of other big names in Latin music, including Becky G, Carín León, Grupo Frontera, Joe Jonas, Emilia, Residente, Luis Fonsi and Kali Uchis.

The tribute to salsa at the ceremony added a surprise for the audience: the reunion of Marc Anthony and India on stage.

Each of the guest artists contributed to a night of celebration that coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Latin Grammys.

Juan Luis Guerra was one of the big winners of the gala, as he won the awards for Record of the Year and Album of the Yearfor his work on Mambo 23″ and Radio Güira, respectively.

Jorge Drexler was recognized with the Song of the Year award for his emotional composition “Derrumbe”. Ela Taubert stood out as Best New Artist, while Luis Fonsi won Best Pop Vocal Album for El Viaje.
