LeBron James recorded his season-low scoring performance in the Los Angeles Lakers’ recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The physical toll of playing every game this season appears to be affecting the 39-year-old superstar. It sparked discussions about his workload and future in the league.
Lakers coach JJ Redick addressed concerns about LeBron’s heavy schedule following the loss, but fans remain worried about the possibility of his decline. Former NBA star Jeff Teague shared his thoughts on LeBron’s future during a recent episode of the Club 520 Podcast. Teague also shared his thoughts on LeBron’s potential retirement.
“Age is actually catching up with LeBron; this is the first time I’ve ever seen it. He’s really kind of slowing down. To me, I’m not going to lie; I think he might really retire after this year. I think he probably has a documentary going right now, and they’re probably recording everything he’s doing,” Teague said.
“I can’t see LeBron having a year where he’s not still top 20 in the league. You can see it slowly declining right now. I can’t see him going next year and being Top 30,” he added.
LeBron James Reflects On “Off Rhythm” Play After Loss To Minnesota
While Bronny James struggled in his debut season throughout the games he played, his father, LeBron James, showed no decline in performance. However, in the Los Angeles Lakers’ recent games, signs of a slight decline in LeBron’s performance have begun to emerge.
The NBA legend himself acknowledged this during a post-game interview following the Lakers’ loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“It’s the rhythm. I just feel off rhythm the last few, three or four games,” James said after their loss on Monday.
Against Minnesota, LeBron scored just 10 points, had four rebounds, and had two assists. LeBron is averaging 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game this season. The Lakers will next face the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
